NEW WAVE NUMBER ONES IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER
Top Ten Project

This is a chronological listing of the records and songs that were number one in the nascent new-wave scene of 1975. It is a tentative, preliminary list, but should be a close estimation of the final tally. This is a small excerpt from the book Rock Memories: New Wave/Alternative Rock, which will summarise reconstructed radio charts from the first new wave record at the end of 1974 through September 1988, when Billboard's initial Modern Rock Tracks chart débuted. Anticipated completion date: January 2022.

Note that there is a four-week gap in April and May, owing to the limited presence of new wave music on the radio at this early date, and that Brian Eno's entry reflects a broken run, dropping from the top after five weeks and then returning for three more on October 31.
